Back in August, the lovely people from Mayesh Wholesale Florists held one of their “Curate & Create” workshops at The Narrative Loft as a part of their U.S. flower workshop tour. The five-date tour featured the amazing Kaylee Young of Flourish by Kay, a floral design business based in Portland, Oregon. The two-day event promised many opportunities, not only to learn, but to network and bond with people with the same goals and passions.
The participants were welcomed into the loft with happy hour! Wine in hand, the group had some time to mingle around the tables (provided by the awesome people from Party Pleasers and Town & Country), and snack on the delightful food from Catering Connection, the caterers for the event. After getting introduced and settling in, Kaylee led the group as they created their own mood boards, a fun and creative way to brainstorm and help define their personal style.
The students had the chance to use the tips they learned on day two. Everyone curated their own orders, designed centerpieces, and worked together on an archway. As they finished up, the students then had the opportunity to have professional photos taken of them and their work, beautifully done by the Mayesh team’s photographer, Nicole Clarey. They wrapped up the event with a happy hour as they said goodbye, walking away with some great new techniques, ideas for the future, and new flower friends!
