True to Santa Barbara form, we appreciate a good eco-friendly approach to living and design. It’s a great way to create a celebratory atmosphere while refreshingly curating a theme with what is already on hand.
Tomiko Taft - Makeup Artist Extraordinaire
As Toad & Co. joins us once again for their regular photoshoot, we wanted to switch it up and highlight a crucial part of their production team. Their make-up artistry master and beauty doctor, Tomiko Taft. She has worked for Toad & Co. on all their studio photography projects, but her skill and expertise expands far beyond catalog shoots. Fashion editorials, the silver screen or the music industry to weddings and personal celebrity clients.
Granting Wishes!
We all have memories as a child, picking those delicate little dandelion flowers. Taking a deep breath, giving it one mighty blow and hoping all of our wishes would come true. Make-A-Wish® is joining forces with people like you across the country, to make sure the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions really do come true.

A HUGE 240 STUDIO welcome to our newest intern, Brooke!
Hi my name is Brooke and I am the new 240 STUDIO intern. I love the outdoors and was fortunate to grow up in a beautiful, small town called Sonora in Northern California.
I’m currently a junior at UCSB and a former member of their women’s water polo team. I recently left the world of water polo, and now yoga and anything to do with the ocean have become my biggest passions. I’ve always wanted to learn to surf and would be stoked to have 240’s Chris Orwig give me a lesson or two (hint, hint).
When I’m not floating around in the ocean I eat lemons. I know it sounds strange but lemons are my favorite food in the entire world! Lemon bars, lemon juice, lemon gelato, or just peeled like an orange. I really like lemons.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to be apart of the 240 team, their fun spirits and teamwork create such an amazing environment (along with the fact that there are 12 tubs of ice cream in the freezer)!
Stay tuned for more from me….!
Photographic Studio Backdrops
When I first walked into the raw space of 240 I freaked out. The walls and floor radiated warmth and the 20' ceilings gave me the height I needed to shoot several set ups in one day. We've brought in sand for a beach and snow for the holidays and the walls all have a subtle glow that photographs beautifully under the gorgeous northern light. We've installed blackout shades for the 24 windows and sky light, but I've never had to use them when working with my Norman studio strobe lights.
Kelly Kirlin Photographs Samantha!
Kelly Kirlin shoots Samantha at 240 Studio in Santa Barbara. We had to sneak her in the back door down by the storage faciliity to get around the paparazzi outside. Sam's a natural talent and Kelly made it all happen in SB. Who needs to deal with LA when the talent comes up to SB ;) ?
